Youth Empowerment for Social Impact An Innovative Model Proposal for the Financial Sustainability of NGOs:
Social Entrepreneurship

Funded under the “3005 - Innovative Solutions in Social and Human Sciences Research Projects Support Program” through the collaboration between the Directorate General of Relations with Civil Society under the Ministry of Interior and TÜBİTAK, the project titled "An Innovative Model Proposal for the Financial Sustainability of NGOs: Social Entrepreneurship" focuses on creating a framework to assess the entrepreneurial potential of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Turkey.

Led by Sinem Güravşar Gökçe, the General Coordinator of İstasyonTEDÜ, the project aims to map socially entrepreneurial NGOs, conduct interviews with NGO representatives focusing on financial sustainability, and organize a focus group with social entrepreneurship support organizations to develop the proposed model.

As a key output, the project will produce a “Readiness and Suitability for Entrepreneurship Guide”, which will serve as a tool for NGOs to analyze their entrepreneurial capacity and evaluate the necessary conditions before initiating entrepreneurial activities.

Designed with an interdisciplinary approach, the research team includes Elif Muratoğlu (Interaction Coordinator at İstasyonTEDÜ), Aslı Aygüneş (Project Coordinator), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Burze Yaşar from the Department of Business Administration, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ersan Ocak from the Department of Visual Communication Design.

The project officially started in June 2025 and will continue for 18 months.
