"Insurance of Education: Our Teachers" Project

Funded by the Z Zurich Foundation, the Insurance of Education: Our Teachers in partnership with the Ministry of National Education, Zurich Insurance, and the Turkish Education Association (TED). The project aims to support the personal and professional development of female teachers assigned to rural schools during the early years of their careers, while also increasing their knowledge and awareness of social entrepreneurship. In doing so, it seeks to empower them to become role models in their communities, to lead social impact–oriented initiatives, and to contribute to local development.​ Launched in 2018 with an initial group of 50 teachers, the project’s activities have been designed to position teachers beyond their traditional roles, transforming them into drivers of social and economic development.

Within the project, İstasyonTEDÜ provides consultancy in the design of methods and tools related to its “socially impactful teaching” approach. In addition to online events and trainings, an annual in-person gathering is organized. Targeting the empowerment of 1,000 female teachers to lead change in their villages and districts, the project received an award in the “Together Is Possible” category of the Common Futures Award Program organized by the Confederation of Turkish Employer Associations (TİSK).

Through the activities carried out between 2018 and 2024 within the scope of the first phase of project, it is emphasized that demonstrating to younger generations—through teachers—that alternative ways of working with a focus on collective social benefit are possible is essential for building a sustainable future. The second phase of the project is expected to continue in 2025.
